It All Started With A Dream in An Open Valley on A Farm…

As a young child my grandparents would bring me to our cousins farm in the Dakotas. It was a big farm where they showed us kids how to ride horses, feed pigs, get eggs from chickens, raise cattle, and farm corn, wheat, and hay. It was on these memorable trips us city slickers from Minnesota where touched by the smells and glories of fresh air farming. Many years later in 2018 I began my dream of starting a CBD based business with these same goals and rich roots and now my brands are growing strong at Elysian Springs Farm.

CBD is a molecule, not a miracle. Elysian Springs Farm believes many people could benefit physically from legal access to a wide range of cannabis remedies, not just low-THC or no-THC products. “CBD alone may not always do the trick” says owner Michael Danielson, “There is compelling evidence that CBD works best in combination with THC and the full spectrum of other cannabis components.” Figuring out how to optimize one’s therapeutic use of cannabis is the driving force behind the great laboratory experiment in democracy known as medical marijuana. 

The advent of potent cannabis oil concentrates, non-intoxicating CBD-rich products, and smokeless systems has transformed the therapeutic landscape and changed the public conversation about cannabis. CBD-rich cannabis has a long history of being used to treat health problems. Queen Victoria used CBD-rich cannabis for menstrual cramps in the 19th century. Animal studies had long suggested that CBD lessens anxiety and reduces the severity and frequency of seizures.

It’s no longer a matter of debating whether cannabis has merit as an herbal medication – today at Elysian Springs Farm we believe the key challenge is discerning how to utilize cannabis for maximum therapeutic benefit. Given its low-risk profile, many people are using CBD as an add-on therapy to their existing treatment plans. “Life brings us may farming challenges, but when the earth produces cannabis so fruitfully and with no additional additives, what could be more wonderful than to discover the medicinal powers these plants have to offer.”
